The opportunity to work in a fast-paced, solution-driven environment with real-world impact was something I couldn’t pass up.
My career has been a journey through different industries, each step building on the last. I started as a chargeback and fraud analyst, moved into banking roles, and eventually transitioned into the agricultural sector, now working in grain contract execution. I was drawn to Copenhagen Merchants because of its dynamic and specialized role in the global commodity trade. The opportunity to work in a fast-paced, solution-driven environment with real-world impact was something I couldn’t pass up.
Authentic Insights
No two days are ever the same in grain contract execution. Managing contracts sounds structured on paper, but in reality, it requires a high level of adaptability. Unexpected logistical issues, regulatory changes, and shifting client needs make every day a mix of problem-solving and coordination. It’s a challenge, but also what makes the job exciting. There’s a unique satisfaction in resolving an issue efficiently, knowing that my work directly supports industries responsible for feeding people and animals.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that communication is just as important as technical knowledge. Being detail-oriented and analytical is essential, but so is keeping clients and colleagues informed, managing expectations, and collaborating effectively to find solutions.
Impact
In this role, small actions have big consequences. A well-executed contract ensures smooth deliveries, strengthens client relationships, and keeps supply chains moving. Internally, clear communication and teamwork help prevent disruptions and improve efficiency. I also see my role as part of a bigger picture—supporting an industry that is fundamental to global food security.

One thing that surprised me about CM is how much trust and autonomy employees are given.
Advice & Reflections
One thing that surprised me about CM is how much trust and autonomy employees are given. The company values expertise and initiative, allowing individuals to grow into their roles rather than being confined to a rigid job description. A key takeaway for me has been the importance of being both structured and adaptable—staying detail-oriented while also being ready to pivot when needed.
Overall, working at CM has been both challenging and rewarding. It’s an environment where you’re expected to step up, contribute, and take responsibility, but also where teamwork and support are strong. That balance is what makes it a great place to grow and make an impact.
